Body Composition Testing
Body Composition Testing at AZ Dietitians in Mesa, AZ
AZ Dietitians offers InBody® body composition scanning to help you move beyond the scale and gain a clear picture of your health by measuring muscle, fat, bone, and body water distribution.
How It Works
The InBody 380 uses advanced bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to send a safe, low-level electrical current through the body to measure how different tissues such as muscle, fat, and water, conduct electricity. From this, the device calculates a detailed breakdown of your body composition in just 30 seconds.
Results provide insight into skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, percent body fat, basal metabolic rate, and abdominal fat, allowing for more precise nutrition and fitness recommendations.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a body composition analysis?
Body composition analysis looks at what your body is made of rather than just how much you weigh. Your body composition includes muscle, fat, bone, minerals and water. Understanding the balance of these components gives a more accurate picture of health and fitness than a standard scale.
How accurate is the InBody?
InBody provides clients with accurate and precise results that have been extensively validated to gold standard methods. To date, InBody devices have been used in thousands of research studies. InBody does not use empirical estimations based on age, gender, ethnicity, athleticism, or body shape in measured values, which allows for more accurate results.
How long does the scan take?
The scan itself takes about 30 seconds, with results available immediately after.
Why test your body composition?
Tracking body composition allows you to determine whether changes in weight are coming from fat loss, muscle gain, or shifts in body water. It helps personalize nutrition and exercise plans, assess risk for chronic disease, and monitor progress more accurately over time.
